When I Was Me Anthology / 2021 

 

When I Was Me: Moments of Gender Euphoria is a 96-page anthology of single page autobiographical comics, co-edited by Eve Greenwood and Alex Assan and published by Quindrie Press.

The collection features works by over 70 artists, writers and illustrators with a wide range of gender identities, ages, and backgrounds, focusing on the joyful and euphoric experiences of being transgender.

The campaign to fund the anthology's printing was completed successfully through Kickstarter in December 2021. 50% of all sales is donated to organisations that support young trans people in the UK.

The book was the winner of Broken Frontier’s 2021 Award for Best One-Shot Anthology. It is also included in the V&A Lavender Labels exhibition in Dundee.

Come Together Anthology / 2019 

 

Come Together is a 180-page, full-colour erotic comic anthology co-edited by Tab Kimpton and Alex Assan. The book comprises 13 erotic comics by a variety of European creators, focusing on the theme of Reunion.

The anthology includes comics and illustration work by Ariel Vittori, Charlot Kristensen, Alex Assan & Lin Darrow, Anni K, Charu & Emil, Dominique Duong, Hari Conner, Jade Sarson, Niki Smith, Rica March, Shazleen Khan, Tab Kimpton, Vasarru and Zachary Kjoge.

Included in the anthology is Alex's own 12-page comic, In Search of Absent Pigments, written by Lin Darrow.

The campaign to fund the anthology's printing was completed successfully through Kickstarter in August 2019. 

In 2020, Come Together was nominated for a PRISM Award for Excellence In LGBTQ+ Comics in the Anthology category, and In Search of Absent Pigments specifically was nominated in the Short Form category.

Captain Imani and the Cosmic Chase / 2018

 

Captain Imani and the Cosmic Chase is an 80-page erotic sci-fi comic drawn by Alex Assan, written by Lin Darrow and published online by Slipshine Studio. 

 

Designed to be read like the ‘behind the scenes’ of an old sci-fi serial, the comedic story follows the adventures of Captain Imani, a much-beloved, highly decorated starship captain, as he tries to capture his arch nemesis, the roguish smuggler Silo “Lazerboots” Haze.

The comic is divided into three chapters published on the Slipshine website, and the campaign to fund the comic's print edition was successfully funded on Kickstarter in 2018. The comic won a SICBA Award in the 'Best Up and Coming Talent' category in 2019.

The Squirrel Prince / 2013-2015

 

The Squirrel Prince was Alex's first comic project, as well as his first collaboration with writer Lin Darrow. It is a fairytale-inspired story about a young king who gets lost in a magical forest.

The webcomic launched in 2013 and was published online until it was completed in 2015, with a total of 176 full-colour pages
